The location of the Ten Doeschate breeding farm is the original home of Harrie's. His father was a dairy farmer. Caroline has no farming background but is very interested in breeding and was visiting stallionshow from her early teenage years on. Harrie and Caroline have two daughters, Anneke who is doing a PhD in Galway, Ireland, and Mariël who will do her Master studies in Aberdeen. Both are amateur riders, naturally riding home bred horses.
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
In 1985 we started our breeding farm on a small scale, with the purchase of two fillies, Dyvonne, by Marinier and Tivonne v. Farn, and Donya, by Lector and Nancy by Matchim xx. Less information was available than nowadays, but during there breeding career it appeared that both were from good damlines.
In 1993 we bought Lamellie, by Animo and Gazellie v Renville as a filly. At this very young age she already showed a natural eagerness for jumping. The Nellie's, as we call her offspring, are from the same damline as Winningmood van de Arenberg and Chippendale Z.
A little side-step was made in 1994 with the purchase of Mistral, a dressage filly by Havidoff and Kommandeur. She got the qualifications "Keur-sport" but bred horses of a below average height. When she was nine years old we sold her as a sporthorse to the USA.
For years Caroline was searching to buy a mare from the Bryolieta damline. Eventually we could buy the keurmare Alieta, by Ramiro and Pantheon xx. She was not easy to breed, but through his thorough approach of her problems Harrie succeeded in breeding her a few good horses. Although we had a lot of bad luck with the Bryolieta's , we nowadays breed with to of Alieta's offspring, Talieta ster v. Voltaire and Realieta keur v. Mr Blue.
In 2012 at last the next generation was born: Gealieta, a beauty by Corland and Realieta, and in 2013 Itsalieta by Quasimodovd Molendreef and Realieta. Talieta only has got colts untill now.
Both Harrie and Caroline are vets. They own a companion animal practice , while Harrie is also a horse gynaecologist. For that purpose broodmares can be stabled at the clinic in order to achieve the optimal timing for insemination with frozen semen.
In 2013 we are building new stables for our young stock. Because we are not allowed to build at the home farm, we build this modern loose housing in the field where our summer pastures are.
